There are many possibilities to read a blocked PCR2.1 such as using foxflash via OBD (use orange OBD cable) or on Bench. It’s also a good choice to use Godiag ECU GPT Boot AD ECU Connector and SM2 Pro clone with pcmflash software.
Step 1: Connect Godiag Adapter, SM2 Pro and PCR2.1 ECU
Open PCR2.1 ECU
Connect Godiag ECU GPT Boot AD and ECU according to the following Pinout diagram
Only connect Power and Ground CAN+ and CAN-. You don't must connect GPT0 and GPT1 for reading. Have to resist resistor each one is 1 Kohm, but no need to cut/solder it when using Godiag Adapter.
The Godiag Boot Resistance Board has all these types of resistors, and it can be connected straightly with Godiag ECU Adapter. When you don't push the button on Godiag Adapter, it will automatically take the resistance. When you push the button, it will definitely jump to 100 ohms.
You also need to connect Godiag Adapter and SM2 Pro J2534 VCI, and connect with a PC to run pcmflash software.
Step 2: Identify PCR2.1 ECU
After connection, open pcmflash software (V1.20)
Select Protocol 57, VAG: PCR2.1 (EEPROM/UNLOCK/BSL)
This is the connection make it for BSL reading because this ECU is protected.
Connect the power supply, if it doesn't have a current on the power supply. Take another one to try straight away. When the power supply is normal, the ECU is ready to be read.
Identify the ECU info successfully.
*This is the way to read this ECU with PCMtuner or SM2 Pro. There is no difference between these two programmers and after unlocking the ECU.
Step 3: Read PCR 2.1 via OBD
Entering reprogramming mode…
Transferring Bootloader…
Verification…
Reading data…
Succeed
Save the data
Godiag ECU GPT Boot Adapter is quite good to make its job and it's up to you.
